In the seven months following the launch of its system-wide upgrade of natural gas meters, Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) has successfully installed more than a quarter million advanced meters for customers in five counties, the company has reported.

SoCalGas awards metering contract to Itron

[img:Socalgas_0.gif| ]San Francisco, CA and Liberty Lake, WA, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- October 4, 2012 - Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) is to install nearly 1.5 million Itron gas meters and more than 600,000 gas regulators as a part of its advanced metering project.

Meter installation will begin in the fourth quarter of 2012.

“Itron is proud to work with SoCalGas as it upgrades its natural gas metering system,” said Philip Mezey, Itron president and chief operations officer of Energy.

Management changes at SDG&E and SoCalGas

] Sempra Energy and its subsidiaries including San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Co. have announced a number of management changes designed, a company statement says, to bolster their organizations and enhance management experience.

Debra L. Reed, president and CEO of SoCalGas and SDG&E since 2006, will become an executive vice president at Sempra Energy, reporting to Sempra chairman and CEO Donald E. Felsinger. Reed joined SoCalGas in 1978 as an energy systems engineer and has served in a series of increasingly responsible management positions at the utilities, including vice president of human resources and vice president of administrative services for SoCalGas, president of SoCalGas’ operations for residential, small-commercial and industrial customers, and chief financial officer of SDG&E and SoCalGas.
