El Paso, TX, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- October 13, 2006 – El Paso Electric, a utility with customers in both Texas and Mexico, has ordered a further quantity of Nighthawk Systems’ CEO700 remote power disconnect units, which will operate on the American Messaging wireless network. The utility has chosen to move forward with its ongoing remote disconnect program using the Nighthawk Systems-American Messaging partnership. Nighthawk is a provider of intelligent wireless power control products that enable simultaneous activation or de-activation of multiple assets or systems on demand. Its CEO700 gives electric utilities the ability to remotely disconnect and reconnect power to residential electric meters. Recently Nighthawk Systems and American Messaging announced they had strengthened their joint marketing agreement to take advantage of their core competencies and provide wireless remote control solutions to their customers. H. Douglas Saathoff, Nighthawk’s CEO, said, “El Paso Electric, like most utilities, has identified a growing need to implement a remote connect/disconnect program to better service its customers and to save money. Reliable access to our units was a key factor in continuing to move forward with El Paso Electric. Simply put, customers will not deploy on an ongoing basis if they cannot count on access to our units.”
[img:BlissF_0.jpg| ]El Paso, TX, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- May 21, 2013 - The U.S. Army and Lockheed Martin have commissioned the first U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) grid-tied microgrid integrating both renewable resources and energy storage at Fort Bliss, Texas.
The project was funded by the DoD's Environmental Security Technology Certification Program.
The Fort Bliss grid-tied microgrid is designed to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs while providing the capability to operate independent of the electric utility grid when needed to provide energy security.
