CEO & President,
Sensus]Raleigh, NC, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- July 2, 2009 - Sensus has announced that it has acquired the assets and business of smart grid cellular communication solution provider Telemetric Corporation.
With over ten years of experience in distribution automation technology, Telemetric has an established track record of providing utilities with intelligent, innovative, reliable and secure end-to-end solutions for distribution automation systems utilizing commercial cellular networks the PowerVista™ web-based software application.
The MID is aimed at providing a standard and consistent approach to the regulation of gas and electricity meters, among other measuring instruments. Accreditation requires a full quality assessment procedure, which encompasses and certifies all processes from the development of meters through to production processes and up to final inspection.
Sensus Metering Systems is well into its second 100 years of service to utilities across the world. The company has gone through several name changes over the years, leading to its current name of Sensus Metering Systems – established in 2003 when Sensus became a stand-alone company after the prior owner decided to divest of its successful metering business.
In his new role, Parr will focus on developing Sensus’ business opportunities for advanced metering systems, working directly with customers and through distributors in each country to implement water and heat metering programs.
Sensus Metering Systems has appointed 27-year-old ex international rower Tom Mills as Technical Sales Engineer. Mills joins the Romsey-based company with a degree from Oxford Brookes in electronic engineering and a background in flow metering in the off-shore oil industry.
He will be heavily involved in the implementation of the latest Sensus AMR technology – Sensus((S))cout – offering technical support to water utilities keen to leverage maximum value from reading systems that manage data from the meter up to the billing point. Energy companies and utilities in the UK increasingly see automatic meter reading (AMR) systems as a key building block in enhancing operational efficiency and improving service to consumers.
Yeates has twenty-four years of global engineering, sales and operations experience. He was previously with Power-One, Inc., a power conversion and power management products company, where he was chief executive officer. His experience also includes more than fifteen years with AT&T/Lucent Technologies in various engineering and sales leadership roles throughout the U.S. and Asia. Yeates holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Louisiana Technical University.
Keeping in the Sensus tradition for technological advances in the water metering market, the leading edge metrology for the OMNI meter is the “Floating Ball Technology” (FBT). The theory behind the FBT is a water measuring device that is virtually weightless in water and has no friction while it operates as the ball impeller floats. Because of this, the FBT is able to operate and measure at both very low and extremely high flow rates.
A single source radio automatic meter reading (AMR) system has been launched by advanced metering solutions provider, Sensus Metering Systems. The Sensus((S))cout delivers an ‘end-to-end’ solution for utilities and water companies, with every element of the system – meters, transponders and data transmitters, collectors and interrogation software – designed and supported by Sensus.
