Austrian Utility Opts For Advanced Metering
LINZ STROM of Austria has appointed Ubitronix to install Echelon’s energy management infrastructure to control electricity meters, in-home devices and city streetlights. Echelon’s Networked Energy Services (NES) System will network 75,000 of LINZ STROM’s customers using advanced meters. The project includes an option for an additional 75,000 meters.
NES Value-Added Reseller Ubitronix (also of Austria), will serve as the prime contractor. In addition, LINZ STROM will also install a LonWorks® based managed streetlight system in a segment of its territory, as well as provide direct control of in-home appliances such as hot water heaters or furnaces.

Brooks 100 Ampere Round Meter Base
Meter Devices Company’s new 100 Ampere Round Meter Base is designed for use in streetlights, traffic signal control, billboard lighting, construction temporary services, capacitor control and electrical services, as well as for other applications throughout the U.S. and internationally.
This new single-position ring-type unit is equipped with four terminals and carbon steel connectors. The unit is made of die-cast aluminum with a gray cathodic epoxy enamel electrocoat finish.
