Philippe Monloubou given EDF smart meter mission

[img:MONLOUBOU-Philippe.thumbnail.jpg| ]Philippe Monloubou, director of commerce of the EDF Group, has been assigned to the development of the company’s smart metering program.

The six-month assignment will focus on the development and financing of the project, taking into accounts activities internationally.

The project, which is expected to lead to the rollout of 35 million smart meters by 2020, will be carried out by EDF’s distribution network company, ERDF.

Baroness McDonagh to chair Britain’s smart meter Central Delivery Body

[img:mcdonagh.thumbnail.jpg| ]Baroness Margaret McDonagh has been appointed as chairman of Britain’s smart meter Central Delivery Body, a new organization which is to deliver consumer engagement during the nation’s smart meter rollout.

She will join the Board alongside representatives from energy suppliers, consumer groups and other independent interests.
 

Dr. Ernest Moniz sworn in as U.S. Secretary of Energy

[img:ernstM.thumbnail.jpg| ]Dr. Ernest Moniz, former Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) physicist, has been sworn in as the 13th U.S. Secretary of Energy.

In his first public speech hours after the swearing in at the 2013 Energy Efficiency Global Forum, Secretary Moniz, whose research focus has been on energy technology and policy, highlighted the importance of the clean energy and climate agenda, saying that energy efficiency is going to be a big focus going forward.

Jim Andrus appointed VP of Global Smart Grid Sales at Tollgrade

Andrus has been appointed as vice president of Global Smart Grid Sales at service assurance solutions provider Tollgrade Communications, Inc., with responsibility for leading the company’s smart grid sales strategies and account management for its LightHouse® offerings worldwide.

“I am very excited to join Tollgrade, a company that is redefining the standard for reliability at utilities worldwide,” said Andrus, who brings 25 years of industry experience. “Improving grid reliability is a mission critical objective of all utilities worldwide. Tollgrade technology takes the smart grid to the next level of reliability and efficiency.”

Andrew Wright to serve as interim chief executive of Ofgem

[img:Wright-Andrew.thumbnail.jpg| ]Andrew Wright, who has led Ofgem’s Markets Division since January 2008 and is a member of the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority, has been appointed interim chief executive of the regulator, effective June 28.

Current chief executive, Alistair Buchanan, steps down from the position on June 27. A permanent replacement will be made following the recruitment, currently under way, of the new Ofgem chair.

James T. Gallagher named new executive director of New York State...

[img:James%20G.thumbnail.jpg| ]James T. Gallagher, a member representative to the New York State Smart Grid Consortium (NYSSGC) for two years, has been appointed as the new executive director, effective April 25.

Gallagher takes over from David Manning, who has taken up the position of special envoy to Washington D.C. for the Province of Alberta.

In this new role Gallagher will continue to lead the NYSSGC's long term vision of facilitating and enabling smart grid development for the state of New York. He will also, as part of his responsibilities, provide Brookhaven National Laboratory with managerial and technical assistance in the implementation of its Smarter Electric Grid Research, Innovation, Development and Deployment Center (SGRID3).

Rick Nicholson joins Ventyx

In this role, Nicholson is responsible for leading Ventyx's T&D industry and solutions strategy, including building a vision around the future requirements of the global smart grid market.

George Arnold moves on in NIST

[img:arnold_2.jpg| ]Dr. George Arnold, formerly national coordinator for smart grid interoperability at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), has moved to a new role at the organization as Director of the Standards Coordination Office.

In this position, which was effective March 11, Arnold leads NIST’s overall engagement with the documentary standards and conformity assessment communities. Line management responsibilities also include the NIST Standards Services Program, the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program, and the NIST Quality Management System.

Bruce Campbell appointed as new IESO President and CEO

]Bruce Campbell, vice president – resource integration, of Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) has been appointed as the organization’s new president and CEO, effective May 1, 2013.

He will replace Paul Murphy on his retirement at the end of April.
