Smart card prepayment contract awarded

Key account water consumers in Istanbul are already familiar with these meters, as almost 30,000 have already been supplied by Elektromed.

Pay-as-you-go meters tested in the Philippines

The trials are being conducted by a group of electricity cooperatives; when explaining how the meters work, the example of prepaid cellphone cards is used to encourage adoption.

AMR system trialed to reduce energy theft

[img:pakistan-flag_0.jpg| ]Karachi, Pakistan --- (METERING.COM) --- January 21, 2008 – The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) is trialing an AMR system to establish its effectiveness in preventing power theft in the city.

The 100 AMR meters have been installed in buildings where electric consumption is high, following a decision by KESC to focus on technology as a means of improving revenue collection. If the trials are successful the utility will consider rolling out the system to all customers – in particular larger commercial and industrial customers with high consumption.

Electric tariffs linked to pollution

Modifications to Singapore metering code proposed

[img:ema_0.jpg| ]Singapore --- (METERING.COM) --- December 12, 2007 - Modifications have been proposed by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) to the nation’s Metering Code to facilitate the connection of embedded generation to the grid and to grant net treatment on non-reserve charges for embedded generators which are not exporting electricity into the grid.

Key changes proposed include the inclusion of generation settlement facilities with capacities less than 1 MW and the provision of suitable metering equipment with bidirectional flow measurement capability.

CPRI is testing energy meters

]Manila, The Philippines --- (METERING.COM) --- November 26, 2007 – The city government of Manila has announced plans to reduce the amount of energy theft in its territory by introducing individual electricity meters in areas where poverty is widespread.

The theft of energy has long been a problem for the city, particularly among poorer communities, who are known to use methods of slowing down electricity meters that are both illegal and dangerous.
