AMR meter reading contract signed

Idaho Power Company and Distribution Control Systems Inc. (DCSI) have signed a contract for phase 1 of the installation of an automatic meter reading system using DCSI’s Two-Way Automatic Communications System (TWACS). The phase 1 contract calls for installation of the patented TWACS system and approximately 23,500 advanced meters. Initial deployment objectives include collection of hourly energy usage data from residential and C&I customers, using power line communications technology.

TWACS provides capabilities for AMR, demand response, peak load management, load control, TOU and real-time pricing, remote connect/disconnect and tamper detection, using open architecture interfaces. There are over 6.5 million devices installed or under contract.
