Sustainable energy investments are key to the EBRD’s approach to support the CEE region. “Its countries of operations need to continue to improve energy efficiency and lower energy consumption”, says EBRD’s Managing Director for Energy Efficiency and Climate Change. “With energy prices soaring across the world, making energy efficiency improvements is the most effective way to mitigate climate change and strengthen the region’s economic competitiveness and energy security.”

How do you envisage your future energy infrastructure investment priorities in the CEE region?

Is it clear that without an effective investment plan it will be impossible to transform from a traditional into a smart energy landscape. Investing in the current energy infrastructure will be crucial to ensure energy security, integrate intelligent systems and increase the share of renewable energy sources.

Learn from the following high level keynote speakers presenting their perspectives on the modernisation of CEE’s electricity network – currently transforming into a smart energy landscape:

  • Krzysztof Gierulski, Policy Officer Energy Efficiency, DG Energy, European Commission, Belgium will update you on the status of the CEE mandated development and the regulations, aspirations and reality of implementing smart energy infrastructure in CEE. Learn what is achievable by 2020, what harmonisation is required and how increased market competitiveness will change the market.
  • PavelCyrani, Chief Strategy Officer, CEZ, Czech Republic will analyse the CEE energy landscape and reveal where the strategic opportunities to prove the smart utility model and create new business models lie. Find out how CEZ is positioning itself to achieve the 20/20 targets, what roles renewables will play and how this will be managed with smart metering and smart grid. Essential for you to understand the key infrastructure investments in the coming years.
  • AsariEfiong, Principal Manager, Energy Efficiency & Climate Change Team, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, UK will present on how to make ‘smart’ meter investments across the CEE region: identifying the requirements and understanding the adoption of new technologies. Learn how to determine your business case, the cost/benefit analysis for the procurement of smart meters and increase your ROI.
