Relevance, Risk, and Resilience — The 3Rs That Matter in Utilities’ Transformation Journey
LONDON, 25 October 2018— According to International Data Corporation (IDC), by 2019, 85% of utilities in the G2000 will have established a new business unit with its own financing and governance, or a separate company, to speed up innovation and business transformation.
Utilities’ traditional business models are under attack as they race to reinvent their roles. Over the past few years, the utility value chain has been disrupted across all its segments with the advent of new technologies and emerging digital disruptors.
Now in its seventh year, the IDC European Utilities Executive Summit has become the key European event for utility executives. The theme for the 2019 summit, which will be held in Cap Ferrat, France, on March 18–19, is Relevance, Risk, and Resilience — The 3Rs That Matter in Utilities’ Transformation Journey. The summit brings together insights and interactions on the biggest issues through keynote speeches, panel debates, workshops, and peer-to-peer networking, focusing on how European utilities will execute on their respective road maps and landmark use cases to become “digital-native” enterprises.
“Utilities face many challenges in their transformation journey, to be relevant, mitigate risk, and embody resilience,” said Roberta Bigliani, vice president, IDC Energy Insights. “To succeed and deliver value not only to their shareholders, but also to their employees, customers, and society as a whole, utilities must overcome siloed initiatives by integrating and orchestrating change across the organization; strengthen weak road maps, which are responsible for the transformation deadlock; close their talent gap; and conquer the inability to scale up innovation. Finally, they must introduce new sets of KPIs that reflect their new reality.”
The summit is a two-day residential event with a focus on thought leadership and best practice sharing. The agenda includes plenary keynotes, case studies, workshops, roundtable discussions, one-to-one meetings, a gala dinner, team building challenges, and extensive networking, with an emphasis on active participation to offer the best experience for delegates and sponsors alike.
Key topics to be discussed during the 2019 summit include:
- Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence
- Energy as a service: changing the role of the customer and the energy supplier in B2B
- Optimizing organizational resilience in your transformation journey
- Customer experience transformation
The summit is an invitation-only event which brings together 45–55 C-level IT and LOB heads to support fully integrated business and IT discussions that focus around not just technology but what it really means to the business. Attendees will be chief digital officers, chief innovation officers, CEOs, CIOs, heads of IT, CTOs, COOs, chief commercial officers, heads of strategy, heads of operations, heads of research/innovation, heads of new energy technologies/projects, heads of smart grid programs, heads of smart metering programs, sales and marketing directors and VPs, customer service directors and VPs, and network and infrastructure directors and VPs.
