Marketing Revenue Management Systems
The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) is receiving the attention of G8 countries, whose support is essential if the project is to be successful. Part of the $64 billion needed to revitalise Africa will be used to improve the continent’s electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. But when it comes to providing electrical energy, those countries that implement complete revenue management systems, based on prepayment, will be less dependent on outside aid, according to Energy Measurements, a company that has implemented such systems in over 40 countries.
Energy Measurements holds that the key to developing, installing and maintaining viable prepayment systems goes beyond the supply of prepayment meters and software. Utilities need to spend time on marketing the concept, both to their own staff and to customers, to create a positive image of the new system.
