Australian multi-utility ActewAGL has entered into a multi-utility meter reading contract with Fieldforce Services Pty. Ltd. The two organisations have been working together for four years to meet the utility needs of the estimated 322,000 residents living in Canberra, Australia’s capital city.
The contract will see Fieldforce Services reading water, electricity and natural gas meters simultaneously. ActewAGL call centre staff will be able to respond to customer enquiries regarding the location of meter readers more efficiently, given that all Fieldforce meter readers for the three services will be in the same area.
Fieldforce Services met the challenge of combining the data into handheld computers, reading the meters in a logical sequence and then subsequently splitting the collected meter data before downloading to various databases and mainframes by developing in-house IT systems that achieved these outcomes.
