New network gateway software solution released

St. Louis, MO, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — February 2, 2007 – Distribution Control Systems, Inc. (DCSI), a subsidiary of ESCO Technologies Inc., has announced the release of its new TWACS Network Gateway (TWACS® NG) customizable system controller software solution that leverages the TWACS® power line communication system to provide electric utilities with valuable outage and distribution system reliability information.

“As more utilities move from daily data retrieval to hourly, and sub-hourly based pricing programs, the capabilities of their existing system controller software can become constrained,” said Bruce Phillips, President of DCSI. “By using TWACS NG, utilities can efficiently handle the high volume of readings that are required for widespread time-of-use or critical peak pricing programs.”

Leveraging the TWACS® power line communication system, utilities can retrieve data more frequently through TWACS NG’s web user interface to provide detailed usage data, enhanced outage information, and the ability to effectively manage their energy operations. TWACS NG utilizes a distributed architecture designed to support over 10 million TWACS transponders. Additional master and distributed master controllers can be added as the system is expanded.

The solution also provides a software platform that will integrate within utilities’ current information technology infrastructure and improve energy and resource management by controlling a full advanced metering infrastructure network.
