Manufacturers and suppliers involved in the development of prepayment technologies and systems for the electricity, gas, water and telecommunications industries are invited to enter the second annual Prepayment Innovation Award competition. The winner – who will be chosen by a panel of industry experts – will be announced during the South African Prepayment Week, taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, in June 2004.
Meter manufacturer Conlog won the 2003 accolade for its ‘Static Token’ – a simple software upgrade that can be integrated into existing equipment to allow the government’s poverty tariff to be implemented.
The criterion for this year’s competition is that the new concept related to prepayment metering or vending must have been developed since June 2003. Entrants will be judged on appropriateness, contribution to prepayment development, innovation, motivation and applicability.
Entries must be received by 1 June 2004. Please contact Emmanuelle Nicholls, Conference Manager and Award Co-ordinator for entry forms and rules and regulations.
