Talk to your customer – the importance of communicating change and educating your customer

Managing the consumer effectively is critical for a successful smart metering deployment. Repeats of customer backlash, such as that seen with PG+E customers from Bakersfield in 2009, are simply not an option. Understanding how to manage your customers both through the installation process and post-deployment is critical to realise maximum benefit for both consumers and utilities.

On 3 June the morning session will be fully dedicated to Delivering smart metering to GB consumers and understanding behaviour.

I am keen to share some snapshots from this session with you:

  • Hear from RWE Npower how smart meters will increase customer engagement, learn how you can leverage smart metering to deliver new services to the customer and unlock new revenue streams
  • Analyse the smart metering code of practice and review its objectives, content, governance and framework with insights from the Energy Retail Association. Understand how to manage your roll out and make sure you are adhering to the code of practice – save yourself  a ‘Public Relations disaster’
  • Review new perspectives on managing the customer and building engagement along with an overview of good practice on privacy data access and use from Consumer Focus. Get the insights you need to prepare your data management strategy
