The EU tax based approach to managing energy demand could be enhanced by better targeted pricing systems – but the application of time-of-use tariffs requires more sophisticated metering technology than is generally being installed.
e-amra.com, the European association for the automatic meter reading industry, is holding a special session of The Future of the AMR Industry, at the offices of the Department of Trade and Industry in London, on 25 June 2003. Despite high level interest from European and British governments in energy and water management, business activity in the critical instrumentation that supports targeted tariffing and provides demand profile information is low key. The meeting has been arranged to give key players, including government and regulators, the opportunity to discuss the way forward to ensure that the technology capability is appropriately promoted. Attendance is free.
