Vienna, 3 November 2015: Metering & Smart Energy International, the global metering and smart energy publication, today released the first annual Global Smart Energy Elites: Projects and People Yearbook, which documents and celebrates utility success in the changing electricity, gas and water sectors.
As utilities are put under increasing pressure to operate more efficiently, adapt to greater pressure by regulators and legislators, and embrace customer engagement, examples of successful projects serve as valuable benchmarks for a sector which is forging new paths.
Says Claire Volkwyn, managing editor for Metering & Smart Energy International: “While this is not officially an awards programme, there is no doubt that the projects featured here represent some of the finest examples of utilities adapting to an actively evolving landscape. We wanted to showcase the fine work being done by utilities across the globe in adapting to the new paradigm.”
The publication is made up of two distinct but equally important elements – noteworthy projects and smart energy innovators, people driving and shaping the future of the utility of tomorrow.
Projects are categorized according to ten different segments, namely:
- AMI & Smart Metering
- Cyber Security
- Data & Analytics
- Billing and Customer Engagement
- The Digital Utility Transformation
- Smart Water Project
- Innovation of the Year
- Emerging Market Project
- Integration of IT and OT
- Demand Response Project
Utilities featured include global players in the power, water and gas sectors including Central Maine Power, Enel, BC Hydro of Canada and EDP Distribuição of Portugal.
Noteworthy individuals, again feature a global selection of innovators and smart energy leaders from Belgium, Australia, Brazil and Hong Kong.
“We are proud to be celebrating and acknowledging excellence in the utility space,” Volkwyn says. “We felt it was therefore appropriate to officially launch the publication at European Utility Week, undoubtedly one of the largest gathering of utilities on the annual calendar.”
