Research firm Global Water Intelligence has announced the winners of the Global Water Awards during the Global Water Summit held in Paris this week.
The awards recognises water, wastewater and desalination 2017 champions in using innovative technologies and business and financial models to improve operating performance.
Dubai Electricity and Water Company scooped the Smart Water Company of the Year award, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board the Water Leaders Award and Xylem the Water Technology Company of the Year.
Suez won the Desalination Company of the Year award.
Some six utilities representatives were also introduced to the Leading Utilities of the World network. The six representatives are from Anglian Water, PWN (Netherlands), LA Sanitation (US), Hera Group (Italy), Southern Nevada Water Authority (US) and the Department of Energy Abu Dhabi (UAE).
The Leading Utilities of the World network comprises companies regarded amongst the best in the world that have unimpeachable records of innovation and performance.
“It is an exciting time for the international water industry, with some of the most significant opportunities the water sector has seen in a decade presented on the agenda for this year’s conference. It heralds a new paradigm for the water industry as the arrival of new technologies, businesses and sources of finance are empowering the water industry to rethink the way it does business,” said Claire McCollum, MoC at the global summit awards.
