Thorsten Heller, the CEO of technology company Greenbird discusses data hubs, lakes and data warehouses.
He explains the main difference between the concepts and shares why the combination of different data organisation and processing methods will help utilities to get the most out of data.
As the world of big data continues to grow, utilities need a modern data management infrastructure that will support their specific needs and requirements, he said.
Data hubs are specifically designed for storing raw data, whilst warehouses are fit for structured data. In other words, data warehouses are for processed data, the data which utilities know how and when to use it.
In data lakes, utilities store all the data that is coming their way, the data which they do not know how and when they will use it, said Heller.
