New pay-for-perfomance-based outage analysis launches for N. American utilities

Itron has launched its new outage analysis service to increase utility visibility of power failures.

The outage analysis is provided as a fully managed service to equip utilities with an outage detection and notification outcome for improved customer services.

The service will enable grid operators to visualise select endpoints and to view voltage quality and reliability data.

Access to voltage and reliability data enables utilities to inform consumers of outages, service areas affected and duration.

The system would also help energy providers to deploy assets to improve the efficiency of their outage management.

The outage analysis is cellular technology-based and is hosted on Microsoft Azure, installed with no upfront expense.

The service is delivered based on guaranteed pay-for-performance to ensure desired results.

Itron provides the meter, hosts the data, delivers reports and provides outage analysis and outcomes to utilities so they can focus on their core business operations.

“The launch of this offering demonstrates Itron’s commitment to delivering value accessible to utilities of all sizes, including small and mid-sized utilities,” said Aravind Yarlagadda, senior vice president of the Outcomes business at Itron. “With our new Outage Analysis service, utilities can harness a holistic solution strategy for outage information with the opportunity for future decision support and performance outcomes.”

The service is available for purchase in North America, and there are plans to offer the service internationally.
