Electric vehicle (EV) charge points are now available spanning from Ushuaia in southern Argentina to Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.
The initiative by Enel X makes available 220 JuiceBox charging points so far covering the over 13,000km from Ushuaia, the southernmost city in South America, to the Mexican coastal city of Ensenada, just 100km south of the US border.
From there, the ‘corridor’ running along the west coast of the continent readily connects to the US network and on up into Canada.

The news comes hot on the heels of Enel X’s announcement of an agreement with Shell to install charging stations in Chile towards its goal of spanning the length of Chile with points 60km apart by 2024.
The ‘Electric Pan-American Charging Corridor’ as it is styled starts in Tierra del Fuego then runs through Torres del Paine national park, Santiago and the Atacama desert in Chile via Bolivia to Cusco in Peru. From there it continues through Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and into Mexico.
Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X, said: “We took on the challenge of building a network of charging points using our JuiceBox technology and sending our crews into the most remote locations of Latin America.
“This long-lasting infrastructure project stands as proof of our commitment to promote EVs through the world, making the widespread adoption of electric mobility a possibility, even in faraway locations where electric vehicle charging facilities were not previously available.”
Almost 200 of the charging points are available on the JuicePass app to enable EV drivers to locate them and manage their charging services.
The Pan-American corridor is but a starting point for widespread emobility in Latin America but it is a key foundation on which Enel X with its widespread presence in the region and other parties can build.
