Pixie Energy issued a whitepaper looking at the factors hindering the adoption of fleet electric vehicles in the ‘Road to Zero’.
The whitepaper ‘Arming the fleet – accelerating businesses scale adoption of EVs’ provides recommendations to address challenges straining an accelerated growth of the EV market.
An absence of clear policy for fleets to transition to EVs and lack of engagement between the fleet and electricity industries are some of the issues hindering the adoption of EVs by fleet operators.
According to the paper, there are five million fleet vehicles in operation in Great Britain.
Battery EVs are expected to reach 34.9 million on British roads in 2050.
At the same time, the adoption of EVs by fleet operators is expected to expand the EV market.
To boost adoption amongst fleet owners, the paper states the need to:
- Drive greater cross-sector engagement
- Take simple no-regrets policy action now
- Build innovation bridges to increase the fleet industry’s awareness of fast-paced developments in the wider electricity industry
