EVO, in conjunction with the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), offers the Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) programme.
A training course in “Fundamentals of measurement and verification” is offered for two and a half days as preparation for the certification examination. The course is available in various places around the world, but not required for the CMVP examination. Next year it will be available on-line by webinar. EVO subscribers enjoy discounted rates on the course.
The newest CMVPs come from Taipei and Shanghai where EVO ran preparatory courses and examinations during May. Thirteen persons who passed the exam had sufficient academic and/or experience in facility management, energy management or M&V to receive their CMVP certificates. Five others who did not quite have the required experience qualification received their CMVPIn- Training certificates. This brings the total number of current CMVPs around the world to about 400.
The CMVP course will next be offered 29 September–1 October 2008 in Washington, DC, USA. To download the application form, or find out more information such as fee details, eligibility criteria, examination requirements application procedure and other details of the program, visit the EVO website’s “Certification” page, under the “Products & Services” menu.
IPMVP in the carbon age
EVO has recognised the role of carbon-based financing in supporting energy efficiency activities. It has taken several steps in the past year to ensure that key players in the carbon world are aware of the energy efficiency community’s methods of determining savings (the IPMVP).
At the same time EVO seeks to identify the particular messages that it needs to deliver to its community and the carbon community. In this direction, EVO convened an animated roundtable in Washington, DC recently for dialogue with the World Bank, the UN Foundation, the Edison Electric Institute, Greenhouse Gas Services (a joint venture of GE and AES) and Good Energies. This group saw value in learning from each other and encouraged EVO’s ongoing dialogue with key points in the carbon world.
If you know a particular point in the carbon finance world where you think EVO should be connected, please send an email with subject line “Carbon Advisory Committee” to evo.central@evoworld. org
