El Salvador’s Delsur to deploy OMS/DMS from Efacec ACS


La Libertad, El Salvador and Atlanta, GA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — June 5, 2013 – Distribuidora de Electricidad del Sur, SA de CV (Delsur), one of the largest electric distribution companies in El Salvador, is to deploy a new outage management system (OMS) and distribution management system (DMS), along with enhanced security features and application redundancy from smart grid solution provider Efacec ACS.

The project includes an upgrade to the existing Efacec ACS PRISM SCADA system and integration with the utility’s geospatial information system (GIS) and other corporate systems.

“Efacec ACS and Delsur have had a positive relationship since 1997, and it is our goal to consolidate a long term relationship that will allow us to grow technologically with a partner with an innovation vision,” noted Delsur project manager Victor Zaldana.

The new PRISM DMS and OMS will provide Delsur with a state-of-the-art solution to help manage and improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply in El Salvador, through enhanced automation and improved situational awareness.

The new system, understood to be the first integrated SCADA/DMS/OMS platform in the Central American region, will include functions such as:

  • Call/ticket management
  • Work order management
  • Crew assignment
  • Prediction engine
  • Browser-based GUI
  • PRISM OMS Enterprise Reporter
  • Switch order management
  • Fault detection, isolation and restoration (FDIR).

Delsur serves approximately 343,000 customers in the center and south of El Salvador, mainly the departments of La Libertad, San Salvador, La Paz, San Vicente and Cuscatlan.
