Ohio selects partner to implement grid modernisation plan


The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has partnered with EnerNex to implement its grid modernisation project.

EnerNex with provide PUCO with technical knowledge required for the successful implementation of the PowerForward initiative.

The solution provider will advise PUCO’s staff the Data & Modern Grid Workgroup (DWG) and the Distribution System Planning Workgroup (PWG).

The two workgroups will ensure grid modernisation initiatives being implemented by utilities in Ohio are line with the state’s smart grid plan PowerForward: Roadmap to Ohio’s Electricity Future

The DWG will be reposible for ensuring utilities deploy technologies that allow consumers to access real-time data and that they are allowed to share with competitive retail energy service providers and other third-party providers to enhance their energy efficiency

The PWG has will be responsible for utilities grid integration with distributed energy resources such as energy storage and the mechanisms and technologies required for conducting hosting capacity analysis, interconnection standards, and functionalities for advanced inverters.
