US utility American Water has made its second donation in response to COVID-19. The utility has donated $500,000 to the American Water Charitable Foundation (AMCF) to support food banks across the country.
The donation will support individuals and families impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19).
American Water and the AWCF also recently announced a $100,000 donation to Feeding America.
The food banks will benefit from the donation through the American Water Employee Crisis Fund and a new community-focused COVID-19 Response Fund.
Walter Lynch, CEO of American Water, said: “Providing this donation to our charitable foundation ensures that every grant dollar will be awarded directly to organizations making a valuable impact in the communities served by American Water and managing through the COVID-19 crisis.
“We know our customers, our communities and our employees have all been personally impacted. By also contributing to our Employee Crisis Fund, we help the very people who are so critical in providing an essential service to our customers. We also are able to help our customers through the COVID-19 Response Fund by supporting programs that will make the communities where they live stronger.”
Since 2012, the American Water Charitable Foundation has invested more than $5.5 million in programmes and organisations that are important to American Water employees and the communities it serves.
