Itron, Inc. has announced that the Itron Riva Dev Kit is now certified to run with Microsoft Azure IoT, helping to ensure customers get Internet of Things (IoT) solutions up and running quickly with hardware and software that has been pre-tested and verified to work with Azure IoT services.
The Itron Riva Dev Kit enables third party developers to create powerful, secure cloud-based services using the Itron Riva platform and Azure.
Developers can use the dev kit to monitor real data streams from any brand of sensor on the Azure cloud platform; use Azure products, such as Azure Machine Learning and Stream Analytics, to analyse trends and predict behaviors; and use any Itron Riva ready device in an Azure-enabled OpenWay Riva network.
“Interoperability is key to the success of the IoT. As a member of the Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT program, Itron is working with Microsoft to advance interoperability of IoT solutions. We are inviting Azure developers to create applications and test smart city and IoT services using the Itron Riva platform,” said Elena Vasconi, acting managing director of the Itron Idea Labs.
“This certification makes it easier for developers to create solutions for Itron’s growing ecosystem of IoT applications. The combination of Azure’s capabilities with the Itron Riva platform will help demonstrate how modern urban infrastructure can be used to create smarter cities through automation, machine learning and predictive analytics.”
“The Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT program extends our promise to bring IoT to business scale, starting with interoperable solutions from leading technology companies around the world. With trusted offerings and verified partners, Azure Certified for IoT accelerates the deployment of IoT even further,” said Jerry Lee, director, Cloud Platform Marketing, Microsoft Corp.
