Dominion Energy unveils ‘100 Homes for 100 veterans’ initiative

US utility Dominion Energy is expanding its partnership with the Department of Veterans Services by launching a new energy efficiency project.

The pair have announced the ‘100 Homes for 100 Veterans’ EnergyShare initiative.

Some 100 veterans in Virginia will receive free energy efficiency upgrades, recommendations and tips on how to reduce their energy use and bills.

The project will also include other home repairs and special needs to improve safety and comfort in the home.

EnergyShare has previously served more than 825,000 families since 1982.

The initiative has helped consumers reduce energy use by 7.5% on average.

Following Dominion Energy directing $57 million towards the initiative in 2015, some 76,000 new participants have been registered, with more than 24,000 homes receiving weatherization technologies and more than 3,500 veterans receiving bill assistance.

Through the Grid Transformation and Security Act of 2018, EnergyShare has been expanded with a $130 million commitment through 2028.
