The IDIS Association, responsible for the open, DLMS/COSEM-based Companion Specification for global smart meter rollouts, has this week welcomed Sagecom as its latest global meter manufacturer member.
Sagemcom, a leading European Group focused on ‘high-value communicating’ terminals, has joined Honeywell, Iskraemeco, Itron, and Landis + Gyr in helping to shape the future of the IDIS Association and associated Companion Specification.
IDIS was formed in 2010, and at its core, the IDIS Companion Specification allows utilities to source smart meter devices from different manufacturers ensuring aligned, rich end-to-end functional interoperability. The IDIS approach leverages 100% open-standards and is based on a proven legacy of achieving successful interoperability through supporting companion specifications.
Eric Rieul, CEO of Sagecomm Energy & Telecom, said: ‘We are very proud to be part of the IDIS Association in order to participate actively to support and promote IDIS. This shows our continuous commitment to develop standards and interoperability for smart metering solutions for the benefits of the utilities””
Dieter Brunner, President of the IDIS Association, commented; “We are really pleased to welcome Sagemcom as the latest member of IDIS, demonstrating the growing number of meter manufacturers who recognise the relevance of the IDIS approach. After a successful European Utility Week, where we spoke to many interested partners, we look forward to helping more utilities with the implementation of proven open standards as part of their roll-out.”
