Italy’s energy sector launches “Vacation Day Bank” for employees


Enel Italia has signed agreements with trade unions to protect workers whose duties are currently suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vacation Day Bank is claimed to be the first of its kind within Italy’s energy sector.

For periods of inactivity, employees who carry out external activities that involve possible contact with other people will be granted paid leave or donations of vacation days from Enel and from managers and colleagues on a voluntary basis.

The agreement is part of Enel’s actions taken to face the emergency due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect the health and well-being of its workers.

Enel has also allocated 23 million euros to support Italy’s Civil Protection activities for the fight against the epidemiological emergency, as well as health facilities for creating new beds and purchasing equipment.
