Smart Energy International’s Errol Bryce was at China Utility Week, and spoke to Jason Wang, chief marketing officer of Lowan , a major Chinese IoT and grid communications solutions company. Lowan produce IoT solutions for industries including smart energy, smart cities, smart security and others.
In 2018, the company rolled out the LoRaWAN network as part of their smart city management solutions to the benefit of millions of people, and hope to improve on that in the future.
The company focusses on high capacity, high concurrency, low-cost IoT solutions, and their platforms also support NB-IoT, 4G and others. Their solutions also offer a high degree of flexibility, and can be integrated with cloud, or local servers, based on customer needs.
In terms of IoT security, the company has had successes in grid operations, including data transmission and transformation.
To date, more than 100,000 smart meters and devices are connected to their utility via Lowan’s solutions, and they’re hoping to increase that number by as much as ten-fold.
The company also places emphasis on economies of scale, and concurrent use, offering smart city management solutions that can deliver cost-effective, far-reaching benefits.
