UK Energy Minister Claire Perry takes special leave of absence

The country’s Energy minister requested a special leave of absence to care for an ill relative, which was granted by UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

Some of her current responsibilities which include energy efficiency, low carbon generation, international climate change, carbon budgets, climate science and innovation, and green finance will temporarily be taken over by the country’s Universities and Science Minister Chris Skidmore.

Perry’s other responsibilities in areas such as energy retail markets, security of energy supply, smart meters and systems and energy security may fall on others, such as fellow serving ministers in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for Education during Claire’s reprise.

Ms. Perry extended her gratitude to UK Prime Minister Theresa May for allowing her the temporary leave.
