VIDEO: Weekly USA energy news wrap up

Keep up to date with the latest power and smart energy developments in the USA.

The highlights in this week’s news items, provided courtesy of our American partner publications, include:

    • Nalcor Energy headquartered in Newfoundland, Labrador Canada, has issued a stop-work order to Astaldi Canada for not paying its workers. Astaldi is the main contractor on the 824MW Muscrat Falls Hydropower project on the Churchill River
    • Siemens Gamesa has been named preferred supplier for Orsted’s 900MW offshore wind power project in Taiwan
    • Crews from around the US are still working to connect customers to the grid after hurricane Michael, thanks to well established mutual aid agreements. Assistance was provided from over 16 States and more than 80 public utilities
    • ISO New England has changed it procedures to avoid the risk of rolling black outs in the event of a cold snap. Last year saw much of New England in the deep freeze, causing many of the natural gas powering generation to shut down and be replaced by coal fired plants.
