Enel Group has announced that its US subsidiary EnerNOC has been rebranded to Exel X, the group’s advanced energy services division.
The rebranding enables Enel X to expand its footprint in the North American energy market and offer an expanded suite of services to create new opportunities and unlock more value for customers in the region.
Enel X will leverage EnerNOC’s demand response services and technology-enabled advisory in areas including energy storage and energy use optimisation and monetisation.
The development comes after Enel’s 2017 acquisition of EnerNOC and successful business growth in the US and Canada.
The acquisition added more than 200 new employees for a total of 600 employees in North America for Enel, service provider to more than 72 million customers in 30 countries.
In 2017, EnerNOC 2017 expanded its energy storage footprint into new markets including Ontario.
The acquisition leaves Enel X a market leader in behind-the-meter storage in New York City, with more than 18 projects in operation and is a leading global demand response aggregator.
To date, Enel X has 3,600 customers, manages 3.8GW of demand response capacity and is present in more than 30,000 electric vehicle charging stations in North America.
Francesco Venturini, head of Enel X, said: “Today, as Enel X, we are launching one unified brand in North America that enables us to convey a stronger message to the market.
“The company has built a foundation in North America and around the globe to offer its customers even more intelligent energy services, unlocking greater value for them. We are creating an innovative energy system based on the exchange of sustainable services and fueled by leading-edge technologies, innovation and partnerships, to reflect the overall shift of society towards an increasingly urbanised and connected world than ever before.”
