Newly appointed UK prime minister Boris Johnson says the UK is leading the way in battery technology globally.
Speaking at his new Downing-street base, Jonhnson delivered his first speech as prime minister, and said “Here in Britain that we are leading the world in the battery technology that will help cut CO2 and tackle climate change and produce green jobs for the next generation.”
This he noted, would help the UK produce more green jobs, and aid in the reduction of carbon emissions and the effects of climate change.

Johnson has also appointed Energy Minister Claire Perry as President of the upcoming COP 26 summit set to take place in November. In so doing, however, Minister Perry will relinquish her role heading up the Climate Change and Clean Energy portfolios.
In another strong move, Johnson also relieved more than half the cabinet of their duties, including Business and Energy Secretary Greg Clarke, who tweeted:
