electric sub-meters

HongKong Electric (HK Electric) has partnered with Landis+Gyr to optimize the operations of its grid network.

The utility will install an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and leverage Landis+Gyr’s advanced grid analytics technology as part of efforts to transform Hong Kong into a smart city.

The AMI comprises smart meters, communications infrastructure, head-end system and meter data management systems to be deployed over the next two years.

“AMI is an important technology for HK Electric.  Not only does it allow us to improve our customer services and enable our customers to better manage their electricity consumption, it also enhances our visibility into the grid for better monitoring and control, which moves us closer to a smart grid,” said Mr. Raymond Choi, General Manager (Customer Services) of HK Electric.

The energy transition is a hot topic disrupting the utility industry in Asia and will be a key focus at Enlit Asia which takes place in Jakarta, Indonesia from 23-25 March. For more details click here.

The utility provides electricity to more than 580,000 customers on Hong Kong and Lamma Islands.
