Energy solutions company Iskraemeco has won the contract for a major smart metering project spanning four regional utilities in its home country of Slovenia, alongside distribution network operator, SODO.

The contract, managed by SODO on behalf of Elektro Ljubljana, Elektro Maribor, Elektro Primorska and Elektro Celje, will see Iskraemeco supply its AM550 smart meters, equipped with G3-PLC communications for installation in households and transformer stations.

Andrej Špenga, project leader, SODO said: “Meter installations in Slovenia is conducted in accordance with the Implementation Plan for Advanced Metering Systems and the predefined meter replacement schedule in line with the set goals, which we managed to exceed in the previous year.”

“Currently, digital meters are used by 70% of Slovenia’s households and other metering points, and all these consumers can benefit from the array of digital meter features, which include electricity consumption management, power bill reduction, as well as the possibility of self-supply, which has been increasing in Slovenia recently. “
