Landis+Gyr's ‘Metering-as-a-service’ solution has gone live and will provide a Finish distribution system operator with advanced metering infrastructure services.
Following a deal reached last year, the solution provider is now operating Caruna Oy’s 600,000 smart metering points.
Landis+Gyr is collecting and managing hourly consumption and power quality data from residential metering points and will feed the acquired data into the utility’s billing system.
More than 17 million metering values will be provided to Caruna and its customers every day for the next six years.
The contract is likely to be extended with an additional three years, once it expires.
In addition to acquiring, managing and processing smart meter data, Landis+Gyr will manage device infrastructure and activate fieldwork operations.
Katriina Kalavainen, head of customer relations at Finland’s largest distribution system operator, said: "We were looking for a transparent, cost-efficient solution from an experienced partner. Landis+Gyr was able to take over the service operations smoothly and according to plan without any interruptions in our operations or customer service. After this successful start, we look forward to our collaboration and partnership in the coming years."
Ralph Griewing, senior vice president of the Business Unit Energy Solutions in the EMEA region said: "Landis+Gyr has been a leading AMI service provider in Finland since 2002 and is proud to work with Caruna, a pioneer in smart meter deployment."
