Maine utility modernises grid network with Itron smart meters

In the US state of Maine, Versant Power has selected Itron to implement an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) project.

The grid modernisation project includes the utility deploying Itron’s IoT network and more than 160,000 distributed intelligence-enabled meters.

Versant Power plans to initiate some project activities in 2021 and meter installations are scheduled to begin in 2022.

The AMI solution will optimise data management, analytics, grid performance, operational efficiency and customer experience for the utility.

“With Itron’s solution, we will be able to continue to ensure that electricity is more acceptable, available and affordable to more people than before.”

The utility serves nearly 160,000 customers in northern and eastern Maine.
