The National League of Cities has renewed its partnership with home repair solutions provider Utility Service Partners to ensure cities' water and wastewater infrastructure are maintained.

Under the programme, launched in 2010, residents whose cities are members of the National League, can purchase affordable repair service plans that cover water and wastewater lines and infrastructure on their properties.

Residents have access to a 24-hour hotline and experienced contractors providing services in the event of emergencies including bursts pipes, leaking pipes or meter related issues. Participants also have a one-year guarantee on all covered repairs.

The programme aims to reduce the number of repair inquiries to the city or utilities.

Over the past three years, more than 76,000 repairs have been completed through the NLC Service Line Warranty Programme, saving residents millions in costly service line repairs.

In the past year, 110 new municipalities have brought the program to their residents, thereby increasing the number of residents with access to the programme by more than 650,000.

Today, more than 475 cities and towns across the US participate in the programme.
Clarence Anthony, CEO of the National League of Cities, said: “As our nation’s infrastructure challenges continue to grow, city residents will be increasingly confronted with deteriorating water and sewer lines."
