The German Design Council has honored RWE Supply & Trading for its holistic Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery system.
RWE has received a gold medal at the German Innovation Awards in the “Excellence in Business to Business” category which fell under the “Energy Solutions” section.
The UPS battery system, Master+, enables data centers to participate in the energy market by providing grid services.
The solution allows data centers to become utility partners and to play a critical role in the energy transition.
RWE has already received the German Data Centre in 2018 and the eco://award in 2019 for the UPS battery system.
“Decentralised power storage systems have an important role to play on the road to the energy transition. With Master+, a holistic UPS battery system, the additional capacity of the UPS battery is used for network services, from which the respective operator benefits. A system as clever as it is innovative, which is so good, precisely because it simply makes sense,” was the jury’s verdict.
