General Session Panel Discussion: The Evolving Distribution Utility Business
More than ever before, utilities are being challenged in their distribution businesses by a dizzying array of technologies, regulations, and new business models. The classic one-way grid is evolving into a complex two-way infrastructure that requires new thinking on the way a utility plans, operates and upgrades its distribution networks. This session will focus on some of the thinking around challenges such as regulatory demands, the “coopetition” of retailers and distribution operators, demand response, new concepts in distribution planning and customer behavior — with key insights into how these will impact the distribution utility of the future and what it means for the utility of today.
