OPUC approves PGE investment in smart meter technology

The advanced metering infrastructure will be installed in a two-year process slated for completion by the end of 2010.

State of Oregon partners with PGE, Renault-Nissan to develop electric vehicle charging network

]Salem, OR, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- November 24, 2008 - The State of Oregon, Portland General Electric (PGE) and the Renault-Nissan Alliance have entered into a partnership to develop a network of electric vehicle charging stations.

Nissan will introduce zero emission electric vehicles (ZEVs) in the U.S. in 2010 and will mass market them globally two years later. As part of the agreement, Nissan has committed to make available a supply of ZEVs to the State of Oregon and work with the state to develop plans to promote the electric vehicle charging network.

PGE takes steps to limit environmental impacts

One such project is the Paperless Bill program. PGE customers who sign up for the program July 1 through August 15, 2008, will have the opportunity to vote to direct a $20,000 PGE donation to one of four Oregon environmental groups.

PGE moves forward on smart meter installation territory-wide

]Portland, OR, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- April 20, 2009 - Portland General Electric Company (PGE) has begun rolling out more than 800,000 smart meters across its 4,000-square-mile service area after successfully completing its smart metering systems testing program.

PGE began installing smart meters last year in selected test neighborhoods, both urban and rural, before rolling them out territory-wide. The rest of the smart meters will be installed in an 18-month process slated for completion by late 2010.
