America’s foundational metering event, Metering, Billing/CIS America has secured one of the industry’s top minds to deliver the plenary address. Google’s Dr Edward Lu, who has flown on two Shuttle flights and spent six months on the International Space Station after the Columbia disaster, will give the plenary address at the 10th Annual Metering, Billing/CIS America conference in Miami on 23 March, 2009.
Google and its partners are determined to help build the smart grid, viewing it as a tool that would empower consumers and allow homes and businesses to act as energy clients and suppliers via intelligent appliances and private generators. All of Google’s investments, initiatives and grants would offer new opportunities: plug-in vehicles and renewable energy generators are much more interesting when you can sell your power surplus to utilities.
Dr Lu, who has a doctorate in astrophysics from Stanford University and a strong background in the academic research environment, has been working on a series of advanced projects for the online giant.
The Metering, Billing/CIS America 2009 conference and exhibition will provide an unrivalled opportunity to hear from industry experts about how they are managing the growth and change in metering space.
With four dedicated tracks (metering, smart grid, billing/ CIS and water), each focusing on a specified and applicable set of topics – plus a host of interactive breakfast Smart sessions, comprehensive instructor-lead workshops, and a stand-alone MDM seminar – Metering, Billing/ CIS America 2009 stands to deliver engrossing content in an excellent networking environment.
Attracting approximately 700 industry participants, 100 high-level speakers and 50 exhibitors, you cannot afford to miss the opportunity to learn, connect, explore and gain the edge in the metering and customer-end utilities sector at this powerhouse event! The Metering, Billing/CIS America 2009 conference and exhibition is the ideal environment for electricity, water and gas utilities to converge and deliberate the industry’s most pressing concerns.
Event highlights include the Metering, Billing/CIS America conference, the premiere forum for metering professionals and utility leaders, covering issues such as optimising integrated systems, AMR/AMI, building the smart grid, demand response programmes, as well as energy management and efficiency. Morning Smart sessions (breakfast roundtable discussions) will kick-start each day of the conference, discussing the most topical issue in a more informal setting, allowing you to interact directly with your peers.
A dedicated track identifying key issues relating to water AMR/AMI implementation and applications beyond conservation comes in the form of the Water Meter Summit. Attendees can extend their stay with a choice of pre-conference workshops, or be a part of the post-conference Meter Data Management Summit, with focused insight on data administration challenges for utilities.
