In a statement, Cyan said it has sold Micromodje an AMI solution worth £67,000 (US$97,000).
The deal includes the supply of Cyan’s CyLec Advanced Metering Infrastructure consisting of RF modules, data concentrator units, head-end software licenses, software installation services and an annual software maintenance.
The 2,000 smart metering units will be fitted into street traffic cameras in Iran.
Following an upfront payment of GBP50,000, the Cyan head-end software has been installed on a Micromodje server in Iran.
The Cyan end-to-end solution is providing meter readings every 30 minutes as well as the ability to connect/disconnect supply, Metering & Smart Energy International has learnt.
Mr Goldouzian, managing director of Micromodje, said: “Cyan’s capability has been optimised for emerging regions, enabling these markets to address a number of challenges driven by rapid growth and the demand for energy.”
Micromodje and Cyan have now commenced discussions on a larger purchase order for smart electricity metering solutions to be deployed within Iran in which the Iranian government estimates 33 million smart electricity meters will be required.
Following acquisation of the deal, Cyan said it obtained approval from the UK Government Export Controls Organisation to deliver the order from its Indian subsidiary and is now in the advanced stages of acquiring export approval to deliver direct from Cyan UK for future orders.
Smart meters in Iran
Lifting of the economic sanctions from Iran seems to have opened doors for AMI solutions providers presence in the middle eastern country.
Last week, Danish smart meter solutions provider Kamstrup announced it secured an order for supply of an AMI solution including smart water meters in Iran.
In a statement, Kamstrup said the order includes supply of 6,000 units of its MULTICAL 21 smart water meters.
Kamstrup said the smart water meter is equipped with radio technology, wireless data communication and sensitive leak detectors allowing quick detection of even the slightest amount of water.
