Smart Metering Middle East and Smart Grids Middle East 2009 conference is pleased to announce that the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will be host utility at this much anticipated smart metering and smart grids event which takes place from 4-6 May 2009 in Dubai, UAE. Dewa’s CEO and Managing Director, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, will also deliver the keynote address during the opening of the high-level gathering which is a first for the region.
Smart Metering Middle East and Smart Grids Middle East 2009 is expected to attract some 200 delegates to hear from over 40 industry-elite speakers that will take an in-depth look at the current challenges being faced by utilities concerning the achievement of a truly smart grid infrastructure.
The Dubai utility will also be awarded top honours in the Smart Energy International Excellence Awards for Leadership among Middle East utilities. DEWA will be hailed for “demonstrating its vision and mission with initiatives such as ‘mPay services’, the installation of technologies to minimizes power losses and reduce CO2 emissions as well as the decision not to increase power or water prices in the wake of Dubai’s rapid urban expansion but to rather focus on increasing operational efficiencies”, according to one of the judges and editor of Smart Energy International magazine, Nicholas McDiarmid.
