Independent utilities for Oman

The Sultanate of Oman is the first country in the region to allow the establishment of independent utilities, by allowing the private sector to invest in the country’s power industry. At present electricity is supplied to over 90% of Oman’s population, and the government plans to expand on this in the near future.

Observers say the formation of independent utilities will be able to meet the growing demand for power, and allow the country’s economy to diversity.
