Haifa, Israel — (METERING.COM) — July 8, 2008 – The Israel Electric Corporation has awarded a tender for the remote reading of its electricity meters to Cellcom Israel, the country’s largest cellular company. The meters will be read using cellular modems to feed the data back to the utility.
At this stage the tender is for C&I customers only. The Corporation is of the view that being able to obtain details of the usage patterns of large consumers in near real-time will assist it in improving service by being able to manage the grid more efficiently. Improvements in service will also be realized thanks to the more frequent and accurate reads the modems will provide.
