Landis+Gyr (Pty) Ltd., developer and manufacturer of the Cashpower prepayment metering system, has been awarded contracts to the combined value of some $7.5 million for its Cashpower Gemini CSM (compact split meter), Cashpower Gemini PLC prepayment meter, a number of three-phase prepayment meters for small businesses, and the Landis+Gyr ZMD405 maximum demand meter for medium-sized businesses. These awards have been made by utilities in the Johannesburg and Pretoria region.
The new Cashpower Gemini CSM is a split meter with a customer interface unit (CIU) and an energy management unit (EMU) mounted outside the customer’s premises. The Cashpower Gemini PLC is also a split meter system, but the meter and the CIU communicate directly over the supply lines rather than via separate cable, offering easier and more economical retrofitting.
The ZMD405 is a credit meter which enables customer management of peak demand. It also offers full multi-functionality and removable, interchangeable communications modules which use common standards such as RS232 or GSM to feed information back to the utility’s central server.
