Muscat, Oman — (METERING.COM) — April 12, 2013 – Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) recently launched the ‘You know it better’ campaign to encourage customers to read and report their own monthly meter readings – and so successful has it been it is now being expanded to two subsidiaries, Majan Electricity Company and Mazoon Electricity Company.
According to a statement, since MEDC launched the campaign at the start of the year it has received a tremendous response from customers and won over many converts.
To enable self-meter reading, MEDC has set up various channels, including a smartphone app, SMS, e-mail, e-portal, MEDC website and call center. Participating customers have also had the opportunity to win one of five iPhones or five Samsung Galaxy S3s each month, and get a discount on their bills.
Majan Electricity Company supplies North Al Batinah and Al Dahara, while Mazoon Electricity Company’s supply area is the regions of South Batinah, Al Dakhliyah and Al Sharqiyah.
“In joining our campaign, the two companies will assist and aid billing accuracy along with more efficient customer service,” said Mansoor Bin Talib Al Hinai, chief operations officer – supply at MEDC. “It also proves that the self-meter reading method we have launched is gaining precedence with customers over traditional meter reading and billing methods.”
