Zambia water utility issues tender for water meters


In Zambia, water utility Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company has issued a tender for the supply and delivery of water meters.

Deadline for submissions is 18 November, 2015.

Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company

Owned by local authorities, Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company services water and sanitation for over 46,000 consumers in the Mufulira, Chingola and Chililabombewe area of the Copperbelt province in Zambia.

The release of the tender is one of the utility’s measures to develop the water and sanitation infrastructure, and reduce non-revenue water losses through the Zambia Water and Sanitation Project started in March this year.

The utility received a €75 million loan from the European Investment Bank, €50 million from the French Agency for Development, a grant from the African Caribbean and Pacific group of countries-European Union Water Facility of €5 million while the Zambian government and other partners will contribute €20 million for the implementation of the project, Metering and Smart Energy International has learnt.
